Honky Tonk Queens Bring Country Magic to Injune
Published on 10 March 2026
The Injune community turned out in full force on Saturday, 28 February, for a spectacular night of music, nostalgia and local pride as Amber Joy Poulton and The Holy Two brought their acclaimed Honky Tonk Queens show to town.
The performance - an energetic and heartfelt tribute to the great women of country music treated audiences to classic hits made famous by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Linda Ronstadt, Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton. Injune locals filled the hall with smiles, singing and tapping along to beloved favourites, celebrating the enduring legacy of these icons.
In a highlight of the evening, the crowd cast their votes to crown Linda Ronstadt as the “Honky Tonk Queen of Injune”, adding a fun and memorable community twist to the show.
The event also served a meaningful purpose, with proceeds supporting CHIPS (Cultural Heritage Injune Preservation Society) and the ongoing Injune Museum Project. The museum - set to showcase the history, stories and identity of the Injune district - continues to progress behind the scenes. Construction and exhibition installation will begin to take shape inside the building over the coming months, with the Museum scheduled to open to the community and public later in the year.
The strong turnout and overwhelmingly positive feedback from those in attendance, highlights the value of live arts experiences in regional communities and reinforce local support for the future Injune Museum. A heartfelt thanks is extended to the CHIPS team for their assistance in organising this cultural event for their community.
Maranoa Regional Council Portfolio Chair for Arts and Culture, Councillor Meryl Brumpton, was in attendance on the evening and remarked on the success of the event.
“The Honky Tonk Queens performance marks another successful cultural event for Injune, bringing people together through music while contributing to an important community legacy project,” said Councillor Brumpton.
“It was great evening to the soundtrack of some legendary country songbirds.”
