School kids right across the Maranoa had a blast these summer school holidays thanks to Council’s School Holiday program.
From cooking classes to waterslides to days at the pool, kids had a blast as they enjoyed a variety of activities under the summer sun.
Some of the major highlights included the regional outdoor movie night featuring Kangaroo – a newly released Australian film. Other crowd favourites were the range of Christmas and Australia Day activities that got people into the festive spirit, and arts and craft days for the creative minds.
The Maranoa region also played host to St George as they joined in some of the ‘Brick-by-Brick’ fun at the Roma Library, putting their newly created artwork on show in the community display.
Spokesperson for Youth, Councillor John Birkett said these school holiday programs are vital to ensure kids and families can enjoy what the region has to offer.
“Having events across the region takes the pressure off families having the need to go away for school holidays as fun is provided here – right in their backyards,” Cr Birkett said.
“It’s always great to see the kids getting out of the house, trying new things and hanging out with their mates. Council is honoured to be apart of making school holidays special, helping our region continue to be a more connected, healthy and engaged community.
“Stay tuned as more fun is yet to come with Easter in the Country just around the corner.”
