From Monday, 1 June 2026, residents will begin to receive their annual dog and cat registration renewals for the 2026/27 financial year.

Registration renewals are due by 30 June 2026, with registrations valid from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

While it is a legal requirement to have your dog or cat registered and microchipped once they are over 12 weeks of age, it is also an important part of responsible pet ownership.

Keeping your pet registered is important, as it helps Council quickly reunite you with your pet if they become lost.

Council continues to support responsible animal ownership by offering a significant registration discount for desexed pets, with pensioner concessions also available.

Animal owners are encouraged to review the details on this year’s renewal notice to ensure all animal and contact information is up to date. If any updates are required, please contact Council’s Community Safety or Customer Service teams for assistance.

Once payment is made, the renewal notice serves as your pet’s registration certificate. Certificates are only issued separately for new registrations.

This year’s registration tag is red and should be affixed to your animal at all times. Please remember to remove outdated tags.

Council is stepping up enforcement of cat registration and microchipping this year. If your cat isn’t already registered and microchipped, now is the time to act.

Registration isn’t just about reuniting lost pets and supporting community safety - it’s a legal requirement under Queensland legislation and Council’s Local Laws. Significant penalties may apply if your cat or dog is found to be unregistered.

A secure online payment portal is available allowing registration payments to be made with a credit card. Visit the Council website www.maranoa.qld.gov.au and click the Make a Payment tab.
