Celebrating National Volunteer Week in the Maranoa
Published on 29 April 2026
Maranoa Regional Council is inviting residents to join them in recognising and celebrating the invaluable contributions that volunteers make to the Maranoa region through the upcoming National Volunteer Week.
Held from 18 – 24 May 2026, National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and this year’s theme is ‘Your Year to Volunteer’.
Throughout the week, Council will be hosting a series of complimentary events in Surat, Wallumbilla, Injune, Mitchell and Roma, providing a platform where volunteers can share their experiences, connect with others, and inspire even more individuals to become involved.
Mayor Wendy Taylor said that she would like to thank the volunteers within the region.
“Volunteers contribute significantly and selflessly, donating their time and energy to benefit our community, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their commitment and efforts,” Mayor Taylor said.
“As a gesture of our appreciation and gratitude, during the week Council will be hosting events throughout the Maranoa for our volunteers to be involved in.
“Keeping the theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week in mind, ‘Your Year to Volunteer’, I would like to encourage everyone to see where they may be able to become involved in volunteering.”
