Maranoa Regional Council Adopts 2024/25 Annual Report
Published on 27 November 2025
Maranoa Regional Council has adopted its Annual Report for the 2024/25 Financial Year during Council’s Ordinary Meeting held on Thursday, 13 November 2025.
The Annual Report provides a summary of Council’s performance throughout the financial year, and is measured against Council’s goals detailed within the 2024/25 Operational Plan, which in turn is based on the 2023/28 Corporate Plan.
Along with this, the Annual Report also includes Council’s Community Financial Report, audited financial statements and governance information.
Mayor Wendy Taylor said that it was an honour to represent the Maranoa Regional Council in 2024/25, with councillors being elected in March 2024 following the 2024 Local Government Quadrennial Elections.
“As this is the first full annual report for the 2024-28 term, it reflects a year of hard work and dedication by this Council,” Mayor Taylor said. “I feel very proud of the teamwork and the commitment involved in making this year what it is.”
Mayor Taylor said the report showcases the Council’s dedication to long-term planning and sustainability. “This is our second year of applying a robust financial lens to ensure we’re addressing the needs of our current residents while also planning for the generations to come.
“It’s evident in this report that we are a Council looking beyond the four-year election cycle. We are committed to leaving the region in a better place than when we began this term.”
The report outlines Council’s strong financial performance, with an improved bottom line as of 30 June 2025. However, the Mayor noted that although our financial planning remains on target, the timing of federal financial assistance grants has further influenced the positive result.
“While our operating result is improved as of 30 June, it’s important to acknowledge that this is not an entirely accurate reflection of the work undertaken to date. This is in part due to the timing of federal financial assistance grants, which were paid in advance this year,” the Mayor explained.
“This issue is not unique to our Council – it affects many regional local governments across Queensland. We are advocating strongly for a change to ensure these grants are paid in the financial year they are due, which will provide a clearer picture of our financial position.
“I extend a very sincere thank you to all who have contributed to this year: to the Councillors, Council’s workforce, regional partners and the Maranoa community – thank you for your support, involvement and commitment to making the Maranoa, our home, a special place to live in.”
