Changes to Regional Waste Transfer Stations
Published on 21 November 2025
It has been a busy few months for Maranoa’s Waste Transfer Stations as new changes have been implemented.
All landfill activities have come to a stop in all Maranoa towns except Roma; with all other facilities now used as Transfer Stations for waste to be transported to the Roma Waste Management Facility.
The Mitchell Waste facility is undergoing changes and improvements that includes the construction of new waste facilities and installing a weighbridge. While construction is taking place, only specified acceptable waste for transfer stations can be disposed of in Mitchell.
All waste must now be placed in the bins provided or allocated areas and dumping rubbish on the ground is prohibited.
Spokesperson for Environment and Waste Councillor Jane Vincent said Council recognises this change will not be easy.
“Council recognises that this change can pose as a major inconvenience to many,” Cr Vincent said.
“As a Council we are obliged to meet State Government requirements and this change to our regional waste transfer stations is just one of the steps we need to take.
“The Transfer Stations are now clean, and we need your help to keep it that way. Please help us as a community to keep our facilities in line with the requirements set in place and put your rubbish in the bins provided.”
What rubbish can be placed at Waste Transfer Stations:
- General and household waste – in the bin
