Council Christmas and New Year closure dates 2025/26

Maranoa Regional Council Customer Service Centres, Administration Offices, Libraries and other non-essential services will be closed from close-of-business Friday, 19 December 2025.
Normal Council functions will resume on Monday, 5 January 2026.
The Roma and Mitchell Waste Facilities will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Skip bins will be placed outside the facility for domestic household waste only. The Waste Transfer Stations at Surat, Injune, Yuleba, Wallumbilla and Jackson will have no closures.
Waste collection services for Roma, Hodgson, Injune, Mitchell, Amby, Mungallala, Yuleba, Wallumbilla and Jackon will run as per their scheduled collection day. The Surat waste collection service will swap from Thursday, 25 December and Thursday, 1 January to Wednesday 24 December and Wednesday 31 December 2025 for those two weeks only.
The Yuleba Post Office/Customer Service Centre will close on the gazetted public holidays only, with reduced opening hours of 9am until 1pm for all other business days.
Normal opening times for Roma, Surat, Injune, Mitchell and Wallumbilla libraries will resume the week commencing Monday, 5 January 2026. Normal opening times for Mungallala and Jackson libraries will resume the week commencing Monday, 12 January 2026.
Field based teams across our regionals will shut down from Friday, 19 December 2025 with services to resume on Monday, 5 January 2026. Roma Quarry will shut down Friday, 19 December 2025 and reopen Monday, 5 January 2026.
Council will have skeleton crews operating throughout the Christmas/New Year period to respond to emergency callouts only.
The Big Rig will be closed 25 & 26 December and 1 January, with reduced trading hours from 20 December – 2 January 2026, 9am until 1pm. Norming trading hours commence Saturday, 3 January 2026 from 8.30m until 5pm.
The Surat Tourist Information Centre will be closed from COB Friday 19 December and reopens Monday, 5 January, 2026.
The Wallumbilla Tourist Information Centre will be closed 25 & 26 December and 1 January. It will be manned by volunteers on all other days, from 9am until 4pm Monday -Friday and 10am until 3pm Saturday-Sunday.
The Mitchell Tourist Information Centre will be closed Christmas Day.
The Injune Tourist Information Centre will be closed 25, 26, 30 and 31 December and 1 January.
