Organisations and committees located across the region have been equipped with a plethora of event planning knowledge and skills thanks to Council’s Event Planning Workshop held at the Roma Culture Centre on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

Among the various topics and learning opportunities that were presented throughout the day, attendees were treated to in-person training from regional event planning expert Linda Tillman, and they also had the opportunity to apply for the Signature Event Program through a Council-funded scholarship (valued at $1,399 per event).

Maranoa Regional Council Portfolio Chair for Economic Development and Events, Councillor Johanne Hancock said that the Event Planning Workshop was a valuable opportunity for attendees to be involved in.

“Through Council offering this free workshop, Maranoa organisations have been able to gain important insights into the event planning space, all the while develop their event planning knowledge and skills to be able to deliver exceptional events, no matter the type or size,” Cr Hancock said.

“Along with this, being able to apply for the Council-funded scholarship for the Signature Event Program was another brilliant opportunity for attendees to take advantage of.

“Council is proud to offer events such as the Event Planning Workshop for community groups to be involved in, since they play a vital role in what makes our region so special.”
