Council’s Maranoa Community Care team is currently advising care recipients across the region of their new service providers, following the federal and state governments’ announcements.

With care services continuing for the community, care recipients can anticipate their support will come from the following new providers:

  • Anglicare Southern Queensland, and
  • Blue Care.

Council and the new service providers will be meeting with care recipients across the region to provide support during the transition.

Maranoa Community Care currently provides services (until 30 June 2015) that support those who are frail aged and younger people with a disability (who live at home and whose capacity for independent living is at risk, or who are at risk of premature or inappropriate admission to long-term residential care), and their carers.

Following the nation-wide introduction of the Department of Social Services’ new model of care – Consumer Directed Care, which was introduced in August 2013, Council had until 30 June 2015 to either change the current model used, or transition the Maranoa Community Care service over to a provider using the new model.

On 11 June 2014, Council resolved to transition out of delivery of the community and aged care services (Maranoa Community Care); therefore meaning that the service would be taken over by a new service provider/s from 1 July 2015.

You can visit the My Aged Care website or phone the contact centre on 1800 200 422 between 8.00am and 8.00pm on weekdays and between 10.00am and 2.00pm on Saturdays. The My Aged Care phone line is closed on Sundays and national public holidays.
