Over 100 years of Maranoa history burned down in Muckadilla
The Maranoa lost a very treasured and important establishment yesterday afternoon, the Muckadilla Hotel Motel.
The original hotel built in 1912 was known as the Lindley Hotel. The Lindley Hotel was also impacted by flames in 1960 and was rebuilt and named the Oasis Hotel. The hotel was renovated in 1992 to what was currently known and loved as the Muckadilla Hotel Motel.
Councillor Janelle Stanford said growing up in Muckadilla I have such great memories spent with family and friends at the Muckadilla Pub.
"Part of the original pub was destroyed in a fire in the 1960's and was rebuilt, but sadly now yesterday's fire destroyed the whole building," Cr Stanford said.
"I remember the old building beside the pub was once a local store. It is devastating to hear that these two iconic pieces of local history are gone. This is a huge loss for the owners and the Muckadilla community as a whole."
"The community was so lucky to have this establishment for over 100 years. Our thoughts are with everyone involved."
"Council thanks the brave Queensland Fire and Emergency Services for their continued commitment and dedication in keeping our communities safe."
