Grants boost for Maranoa Community Groups

Councillor Cameron O'Neil, Portfolio Chair for Economic Development, said they were great projects that will benefit our Maranoa residents.

"These projects will have many ongoing benefits, from improved facilities for our volunteers, providing opportunities for active, healthy lifestyles and supporting some of our major annual events such as Easter in the Country and the Roma Show," Cr O'Neil said.

Senex Energy and Council jointly sponsor the small grants category of the program, which provides grants of up to $3,000 for worthy community groups who need a helping hand.

Senex Managing Director and CEO Ian Davies said the company was proud to be partnering with Council to support Roma Rugby Union Football Club and Roma Show Society, and Mitchell Rotary Club.

"We're excited about supporting the passionate and hardworking volunteers in these groups that help to keep the community strong," Mr Davies said.

Sandy Allen, President of Injune Tennis Club, said the club received $10,000 and will put the money towards the renewal of two courts.

"The renewal of the courts will provide improved and safer playing surfaces and conditions and enable the club to hold more regional competitions. We also expect to attract more members and social players once the courts are repaired," Ms Allen said.

"On behalf of Injune Tennis, I would like to thank Maranoa Regional Council for this grant that will significantly benefit our club."
