Council Meeting Snapshot - 12 February 2020
Below are a number of highlights from today’s Council Meeting.
Asset Management Plans – Gas & Sewerage Networks
Council has updated two 10 Year Asset Management Plans; one for its 135km sewer network and another for its 33kms of gas mains. The plans are used as part of Council's annual budget preparations.
Yuleba Water Booster System
The 2019/20 Capital Works Program included a new water reservoir and booster system for Yuleba. Council has today delayed the project so that it can coincide with a new proposed bore at Yuleba for which Council is awaiting confirmation of funding. Council can then undertake both projects at the same time.
Maranoa Netball Association – In-kind assistance
Maranoa Netball Association will receive in-kind financial assistance to erect temporary netball courts for an Inter-District Netball Competition on 25 and 26 April.
arTour Roadcase 2020
Queensland Touring Showcase will be coming to Roma on 19 February 2020. Council will host the event at the Roma Community Hub training room.
Be Connected Digital Mentoring train-the-trainer & Digital Health Literacy Training Workshop
The State Library of Queensland has offered the opportunity for the region to host a two day Be Connected Digital Mentoring train-the-trainer & Digital Health Literacy training workshop in Roma. The workshop will be held on 23 and 24 April 2020. Council has approved the closure of Surat, Roma, Mitchell and Injune libraries on Thursday 23 April so that library staff can attend the train-the-trainer workshop.
The Big Rig Night Show Operating Hours
Visitation to the Big Rig Night Show and Sunset experience has increased in the last 12 months and Council will be increasing the operating hours. The show will run each week night (Monday to Friday) between 1 April and 31 October.
Bassett Park Rodeo Arena
Council will reallocate some unexpended funds from the Bassett Park Rodeo Arena project to complete additional works. The funds will be used to remove the old chutes, connect new chutes to the existing back yards and remove the old announcer's box and big screen which are no longer in use.
Centrelink Survey Results
Council will continue to engage with service providers and the community and advocate to the Federal Government for the reinstatement of the Centrelink office in Roma.
