The funding round is now open and groups have until Tuesday, 31 March 2020 to submit their applications.
The grant categories are:
- Small Grant (co-funded by Senex) – $500 - $3,000
- Community Grant – $3,001 - $10,000
Councillor Cameron O'Neil, Portfolio Chair for Economic Development said the Community Grants Program is a great opportunity for community groups to undertake projects with the support of Council and Senex.
"Council encourages every community and not-for-profit group to apply for a community grant today," Cr O'Neil said.
"We urge groups to plan and organise their applications early and to discuss their project with their Local Development Officer to answer all their questions and receive feedback."
Gary Birkett from Mitchell Rotary Club said that the Small Grant that the Club received last year enabled the club to complete their River Walk Project.
"We were encouraged to apply for the Community Grant and the grant allowed us to complete the shelter at the Fisherman's Rest Hut," Mr Birkett said.
"I'd recommend other community groups have a look at the grants on offer. Sometimes you need that extra grant to achieve what you would like to."
Senex Community Manager Trevor Robertson said the company was proud to be partnering with Council to support deserving community organisations like the Mitchell Rotary Club.
"We're excited about supporting the passionate and hardworking volunteers at these groups that help to keep the community strong and vibrant," Trevor said.
"We look forward to seeing applications in this latest round of the Community Grants Program."
Guidelines and application forms are available on Council's website at www.maranoa.qld.gov.au/services/grants.
