The occasion will be marked by a 50% reduction in liveweight, open auction and agents operating fees for each head of cattle sold at Tuesday's store sale, as well as a tour, official unveiling of a commemorative plaque and BBQ lunch. In addition, AAM Operations Pty Ltd are contributing to the reduced fees for this sale, by 20c per head on the scanning and 30c per head on the livestock movement.
The day's program will include:
- 7.45am – Introduction and anniversary sale announcement
- 8.00am – Anniversary sale commences
- 8.15am – Roma Saleyards Tour (hosted by one of our local guides)
- 9.30am – Official welcome and unveiling of commemorative plaque
- 11.00am – 2pm – BBQ lunch.
Councillor Peter Flynn, Portfolio Chair for Roma Saleyards said he was excited for next week's event.
"This is an incredible opportunity to pay tribute to a facility, that over the course of 50 years, has seen over 11 million head of cattle sold at a value of $5 billion," Cr Flynn said.
"We encourage anyone who has had a connection with the saleyards, whether a past agent, vendor or buyer, or just anyone with an interest, to come down and join us on Tuesday to celebrate this milestone with Council."
Special guest Senator the Hon James McGrath will be in attendance on Tuesday to assist with the unveiling of the commemorative plaque.
Council will also be hosting a BBQ lunch to celebrate on the day.
