Do you know somebody who has made an exceptional contribution and deserves recognition for their dedicated community work?

Maranoa Regional Council is strongly encouraging residents to nominate organisations, events or individuals who have made a positive contribution to the community for the 2010 Australia Day Awards.  Mayor Robert Loughnan highlighted the importance of these awards, saying “Our local heroes deserve recognition for their tireless work in our communities.  These awards present a great opportunity to honour these deserving individuals.”

The Awards will be presented to successful nominees at local celebrations across the region in Injune, Mitchell, Roma and Wallumbilla on January 26 2010.

Nominations must be lodged with Council by close of business on November 13, 2009.

Award categories include Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year, Sports Award, Junior Sports Award, Achievement Award and Cultural Award.  Successful nominees will be presented with their awards at official Australia Day Ceremonies being coordinated by Maranoa Regional Council throughout the region on January 26, 2010.
