Maranoa Regional Council will launch their first series of business breakfasts in Mitchell next week, with the theme “Giving Business a Voice.”
Over the next six months Council will be hosting a number of business breakfasts throughout the region. Mayor Robert Loughnan said the focus of the breakfasts is to form a business accord between Council and the business sector. “Small businesses are vital for our regional economy. Employing people and keeping money local is of great importance, especially in the smaller communities within our region,” Mr. Loughnan said.
The first breakfast will be held in Mitchell on Wednesday 28 October, commencing at 7:00am. A comprehensive list of local businesses in Mitchell and the surrounding areas have been invited to join Council in this opportunity to engage with local businesses and build local networks.
Highlights of the event will include hearing success stories from local businesses and the opportunity to meet with Councillors and the newly appointed Regional Economic Development and Business Coordinator, Mr. Tim Cornell. Councillors will also be conducting a tour of certain businesses in Mitchell at the conclusion of their General Meeting, held later in the day.
In conjunction with each breakfast, Council is also distributing the Maranoa Business Survey to businesses in the local area. Mr Cornell said the survey will help to identify knowledge gaps and improve services to local businesses. “The Maranoa region contains a diverse range of businesses, and by sharing our knowledge and resources we can work to strengthen our regional economy,” Mr Cornell said.
Council would like acknowledge Booringa Action Group for their support in the organisation of this function for the Mitchell business community. “Booringa Action Group has been very helpful in Council’s organisation of the breakfast and we thank them for their efforts in ensuring this opportunity meets the needs of businesses in the Mitchell area,” Mr. Loughnan said.
Local businesses are being encouraged to participate in a one-off opportunity to partner with Maranoa Regional Council and showcase their business at the breakfast in their local area.
