Children in Roma will be celebrating the biggest week of the year starting this weekend – Children’s Week is here!
National Children’s Week is an annual event, celebrating the right for children to enjoy their childhood. The celebrations are also the perfect opportunity to showcase the wide array of skills, knowledge and achievements of children in our local communities.
Local Children’s Week celebrations will launch at the Roma Library on Saturday 24th October from 10am, featuring the opening of the Wall of Fame photo exhibition, a circus dress up theme, indigenous storytelling, giveaways and a morning tea for the kids. The morning will be hosted by Child Friendly Communities Roma, a local community group focused on making Roma more family friendly.
The Wall of Fame photographic exhibition themed “Children at Play” focuses on sharing the joys of childhood. The exhibition will be displayed at the library between October 23rd and November 1st. Entries into the exhibition can be left at the library and will earn an entry into the draw for a family cinema pass kindly donated by Cinema Roma.
Last but not least; join Captain Lyn and her Motley Crew for pirate story telling at the Roma Library on Wednesday 28th October at 9:30am.
Roma’s Children’s Week celebrations are being hosted through the combined efforts of Family Support Service, Child Friendly Communities Roma and Roma Library.
The Family Support Service has been providing information, support and resources for the families of Roma and surrounding districts for many years, and continues to provide that service across the Maranoa Regional area. It offers a free confidential service for issues that can challenge any parent from time to time, including practical support and advice for parenting and family issues, help accessing services for families, parenting workshops and local playgroup access.
