Councillors attend Toowoomba Surat Basin Enterprise evening
The Surat Basin was on show at Queensland’s Parliament House earlier this month with the Toowoomba Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) monthly enterprise evening being hosted by the regions’ members of parliament.
Maranoa Regional Council was represented at the event by Mayor Tyson Golder, Cr David Schefe and Cr Cameron O’Neil with the region’s gas sector on show.
Minister Anthony Lynham addressed the gathering and spoke of the importance the State Government puts on the oil and gas sector out of the Surat Basin and highlighted the contribution the region makes to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Councillor Cameron O’Neil, Portfolio Chair for Economic Development said that opportunities to showcase the Maranoa to potential businesses is a real benefit of attending gatherings like TSBE’s evenings. As councillors, any chance we have to attract new investments into the Maranoa is a plus for the region,” Cr O’Neil said.
“I was pleased to be introduced to Tor McCaul, the Managing Director of Comet Ridge, a Queensland based business, who shared his company’s vision of delivering greater choice and opportunity into the national gas market, directly supporting local business, industry and manufacturing.
“Any new business to our region can create job opportunities, stimulate our local commerce and welcome employees to become part of a local community, which is a win for Maranoa!”
