Thank you to residents for their continued vigilance
Maranoa Regional Council would like to thank residents for their cooperation and continued vigilance regarding bushfires.
Although the fire ban has been lifted, it is important for residents to remain cautious and refrain from using fire where possible. Permits that were cancelled when bans were put in place will not automatically be reinstated. It is essential to check with local fire wardens on a case-by-case basis, until more favourable conditions return.
Smoke from bushfires burning around the State is still present in the Maranoa region and will be for the coming days.
People with respiratory issues should stay indoors with windows and doors closed, and avoid vigorous exercise. If you are experiencing any adverse reactions to the smoke, such as shortness of breath, prolonged coughing or wheezing, seek medical advice. If operating an air-conditioner during smoky conditions, switch it to ‘recycle’ or ‘recirculate’ to reduce smoke coming into your home.
Please remember, if you see an unattended fire, please report it immediately to Triple Zero (000). The sooner QFES can attend the scene, the better.
