Roma tees off for Australia's most remote golf series
The inaugural Outback Queensland Masters tees off in Roma on Monday, 17 June with an epic event staged across six Outback Queensland locations.
The event is for the amateur golfer, social player or a first-time player, encouraging visitors and locals alike to grab their clubs for the Outback Queensland Masters this June and July.
Councillor Peter Flynn, Portfolio Chair for Youth, Recreation and Sport said the Outback Queensland Masters is an excellent opportunity to showcase the Maranoa region and an opportunity to play the $1 million dollar hole-in-one!
“To participate in the $1 million dollar hole-in-one in Mount Isa, competitors will need to play at least two other courses in the outback first. To qualify, tee off at Roma, Charleville, Longreach, Winton or Boulia first,” said Cr Flynn.
“Council has demonstrated support to the series by contributing $5,000 to Golf Australia and $10,000 in support to the Roma Golf Club for improvements to their grounds and assistance towards hosting a dinner under the stars on Monday night.
“Whether you are participating or being a spectator this will be an event you don’t want to miss out on!”
