Roma sewer main upgrade update
Maranoa Regional Council’s Roma Sewer Main Upgrade Project is now approximately 10% complete with works having been underway since January this year. Much of the work to date has been sewer cleaning works in preparation for the sewer relining crew.
Councillor David Schefe, Portfolio Chair for Utilities said the project involves upgrading and relining 21kms of Roma’s sewer mains.
“Council has dedicated over $3 million to this project to make sure vital upgrades are undertaken to ensure the effectiveness, stability and longevity of the network,” Cr Schefe said.
“The project has been designed to minimise disruption to residents, however as much of the works are carried out in residents’ backyards some residents may be impacted for short periods of time. This method of renewal has a very minor impact on residents compared to full replacement of the sewers through excavation and is a fraction of the cost per metre renewed.
“Works are anticipated to be completed at the end of June 2019, weather permitting.”
Please note that while works are taking place, residents are advised that some toilets may overflow. To minimise this occurrence, please be sure to close the toilet lid and place a heavy object on top before the works commence. If you experience toilet overflow issues, a cleaning service will be provided.
Insituform Pacific Pty Ltd will notify affected businesses and residents via a letter and/or door knock 48 hours prior to commencing any upgrade works.
Council apologises for any inconvenience and thanks residents and businesses for their patience during this time.
