Permanent road closures in Roma - Sections of Short Street & George Street East
Maranoa Regional Council advises residents of the permanent road closure to all traffic on sections of Short Street and George Street East in Roma, under section 69 of the Local Government Act 2009, as of Friday, 13 July 2018.
The purpose of the permanent road closure is to allow for the construction and operation of the Eastern Diversion Channel (part of Roma’s Flood Mitigation Project - Stage 2A).
Where required, for traffic management purposes, cul-de-sacs and signage will be installed in the coming weeks on roads where access will no longer be available.
Through traffic from George Street East will divert to Miscamble Street East or the Warrego Highway and traffic from Short Street will divert to Clayton Road and Ashburn Road.
Residents travelling to the Maranoa Archers Association will still be able to enter the grounds through Short Street, via the Miscamble Street East intersection.
Council thanks all road users for their cooperation.
