Council Meeting Snapshot - 12 September 2018

Below are the highlights from yesterday’s Council Meeting.

Yuleba Service Centre
Council decided that the Yuleba Service Centre will only be closed on the following designated public holidays and Australia Post Holiday:

  • Christmas Day - Tuesday, 25 December 2018
  • Boxing Day - Wednesday, 26 December 2018
  • Australia Post Holiday - Monday, 31 December 2018
  • New Year’s Day - Tuesday, 1 January 2019.

Proposed Maranoa Meatworks
Council approved to seek a proposal and quotation to update Council’s Maranoa’s Meat Processing Facility pre-feasibility report to reflect recent changes to market conditions and trends and also advocate to stakeholders the relative advantages of supporting an export accredited abattoir proposal for the Maranoa.

Opera Queensland Tour of Regional Queensland
Opera Queensland has advised of a tour date for our region of Friday, 6 September 2019 and Council has committed to hosting this event.

Get Ready Funding
Council accepted the allocation of $11,640 from the Queensland Government under the 2018-19 Get Ready Queensland program to run a series of continuity workshops, focusing on business and volunteering organisations getting back up and running after a disaster.

Festival of Small Halls – Wallumbilla
The event will be held on Wednesday, 31 October 2018. Tickets can be bought online, at the Council owned Post Office in Yuleba or Midwest Rural Traders in Wallumbilla.

100 Year Commemoration of Heroes Avenue
In-kind assistance will be provided to the RSL Roma Sub Branch for assistance in hosting the event on Saturday, 22 September 2018. There will be road closures in place from the Railway Station to the Cenotaph between 10.30am and 11.30am

NAIDOC Female Elder of the Year
It was agreed that Council would co-host with Booringa Action Group a commemorative event in celebration of the achievements of Lynette Nixon and her selection as the NAIDOC Female Elder of the Year.

My Maranoa Business

  • RPQ Spray Seal Pty Ltd was selected as the recommended supplier for Bitumen Seal works on Cottage Creek Road, Wallumbilla, if the final terms are acceptable.
  • Warroo Games Meats Pty Ltd quotation was accepted for the supply of fresh meat to be used in Council’s 2018-19 coordinated baiting campaigns.
