Bottle tree removal in Roma - this Saturday & Sunday
Due to extremely poor health, four bottle trees in Roma will be removed this Saturday, 18 February and Sunday, 19 February 2017.
The bottle trees (two of which are located on Heroes Avenue) are located on Bungil Street, Arthur Street, Twine Street and Charles Street.
The bottle trees will be replaced over the coming weeks to ensure they are prospering by Anzac Day.
Councillor Geoff McMullen, Portfolio Chair for Towns & Surrounds said that the two bottle trees in Heroes Avenue were planted as a tribute to fallen soldiers from the area.
“To ensure Heroes Avenue continues to have each of its plaques coupled with a bottle tree, Council will work to replant them as soon as possible,” Cr McMullen said.
“We thank residents for their patience during the removal and replanting process, as we work hard to maintain this iconic memorial.”
For any concerns or enquiries regarding the removal, please contact Council’s Roma Town & Surrounds Team on 1300 007 662.
