SIGN UP FOR THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH OR BRIDGE AWARDS

Maranoa Regional Council has just become a Licensed Operator for the internationally recognised Youth Development Program the Duke of Edinburgh and Bridge Awards.  The award programs allow youth to try new things, explore new places and meet new friends along the way.   It also gives youth the chance to get involved in their community and to give back to others with their achievements being awarded.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is open to youth between the ages of 14-25 allowing them to take on a series of challenges where they will gain valuable skills and discover that they can really make a difference.  The Bridge Award is not as detailed as the Duke’s and is opened to youth between the ages of 11 and a half to 14.  The Bridge award allows the younger youth to prepare them for the Duke’s.

Participants design their own program by selecting activities that interest them around physical recreation, skill development and community service.  As participants progress through their levels, they can also opt to take part in other components of the program.  They are able to set and achieve their goals through different award levels each with different minimum requirements. At the end of their programs, they are rewarded with the recognition of the level they completed.

You can sign up to the Award Programs any time starting now!  Any Youth residing in the Maranoa region are encouraged to have a go.  It doesn’t matter where you live, access to Award Mentors are available in each of the Maranoa Communities throughout the Maranoa Regional Council to assist participants in their journey.

To sign up contact the Regional Youth Coordinator.  You can also visit the Duke of Edingburgh Wesbite for further information www.dukeofed.org.au.
