Celebrating 150 Years of Local Government in Roma Celebrating 150 Years of Local Government in Roma

Maranoa Regional Council is holding a program of celebrations during August 2017 in commemoration of the first local government election for the Roma district, held on 9 August 1867, with the first meeting held on 10 August 1867 following the declaration of poll.

Council is keen to hold these celebrations in partnership with the community and invites local groups to consider how they could be involved in the following activities:

Walk of Art, Roma on Bungil Gallery (on display for the week)

Community morning tea (location to be confirmed)

Afternoon guided historical tour at Roma cemetery recognising former Mayors laid to rest in the cemetery and laying of wreaths.

Community dinner in recognition of past Mayors and Councillors of the Roma district.
