About the Programs

Funding is granted to the Maranoa Regional Council - Maranoa Housing from the Department of Communities for the Supported Accommodation Assistance Program/Crisis Accommodation Program.  These funds are provided by both the State and Commonwealth Governments through a bi-lateral agreement, but are administered by the Department of Communities.

Funding is provided for the employment of the workers and program costs.  Housing rental funds are used for refurbishments, maintenance of properties and property management.  Properties are leased from the Department of Communities - Housing and Homelessness Services.

Long-Term Community Housing properties are built from grant funding from the Department of Communities - Housing and Homelessness Services.

Who is Assisted?

The Supported Accommodation Assistance Program assists those that are permanently homeless, or temporarily homeless as a result of a crisis, and need support to move towards independant living, where possible and appropriate.  The SAAP service provides short-term crisis accommodation.  This program is funded by the Department of Communities.

Same House Different Landlord is a Community Housing program where crisis accommodation tenants move to a transitional stage before returning both house and tenant to the Department of Housing.  Properties are leased from the Department of Communities - Housing and Homelessness Services.

Community Housing is designed for long-term tenancies.  Reviewable tenancies apply after a period of four (4) or ten (10) years in line with the Department of Communities - Housing and Homelessness Services - Community Housing guidelines.  It offers safe, secure and affordable housing to the aged, low income and single parent families.  Grant funding from the Department of Communities - Housing and Homelessness Services was used in the contruction of the houses.
