Roma Home Maintenance Service (HACC)
Who is HACC?
The Home and Community Care (HACC) program provides funding for services which support people who are frail aged, younger people with a disability and their carers, who live at home and whose capacity for independent living is at risk or who are at risk of premature or inappropriate admission to long-term residential care. The HACC program in Queensland provides funding for eighteen (18) different services to assist eligible clients remain active and independent in their homes and community. Our funding is provided by both the Australian State and Territories Government. Roma Maranoa Council receives funding to provide subsidised Home Maintenance services to HACC eligible clients in the Roma Regional area.
What does the Roma Home Maintenance Program do?
The Home Maintenance program assists with small maintenance and repairs to eligible client's homes, gardens and/or yards to keep their home in a safe and habitable condition. This includes activities such as:
- Changing light bulbs
- Replacing tap washers
- Minor carpentry work such as replacing stair treads
- Repairs to guttering
- Smoke alarm installations
- Installation of grab rails
- Yard and garden maintenance including mowing and rubbish removal
Major modifications or repairs are undertaken by another HACC funded agency.
Am I eligible for assistance?
HACC provides support to people who need assistance to be independent at home and/or in the community. Our service focuses on assisting people who are frail aged or younger people with a disability who find it difficult to carry out basic home maintenance and daily living tasks.
How do I get assistance?
You can self-refer or have another person or agency refer you to our service. There is criteria that you must meet and you must undergo an interview to discuss your circumstances and confirm your eligibility. Once accepted by our service your access to our service is reviewed every 12 months to ensure your circumstances have not changed.
Can I access the program more than once?
Yes - you can access the program again at any time for assistance by contacting our office to have each situation assessed and ensure you have not exceeded funding limits.
How much will I have to pay?
The program is a subsidised service and you will be required to contribute to the cost of all materials required to complete the work, as well as a co-payment towards yard maintenance. We will only accept responsibility for work approved by our service prior to the work being commenced.
